Today we would like to introduce you to Erinn, an American client based in Berlin, who in 2023 chose Rezzonico on Lake Como as the place for her new home — both as a thoughtful investment and as a space she immediately felt deeply connected to.
From the very first viewing, it was truly love at first sight.

Calm, reserved and discreet, yet at the same time warm and genuinely friendly, she is one of those people with whom everything feels effortless from the very beginning. It didn’t take long for us to build a strong sense of empathy and a very natural connection.
She was immediately drawn to the charm and authenticity of Rezzonico, and once she found her place, she didn’t hesitate — it simply felt right.

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR STORY. WHY HAVE YOU CHOSEN LAKE COMO AS A LOCATION FOR BUYING YOUR SECOND HOME IN ITALY? DID YOU KNOW THE AREA BEFORE? HAVE YOU EXPLORED THE REST OF ITALY? WHAT DID YOU KNOW ABOUT LAKE COMO / WHAT WAS YOUR PERCEPTION OF THE LAKE FROM ABROAD?
I knew very little about Lake Como before starting the home-buying process but had only heard amazing things about the area. While the weather is mild and doesn’t get as hot as other places in Italy, it is still slightly close to where I currently live full-time.
Mostly, I started looking online and then found the home (that I eventually purchased). I had never been to Lake Como. After contacting Lakeside, I visited the house and area for a week and then saw a few other homes in my budget. It didn’t take long for me to put the house on hold and move forward with the process.
WHAT DO YOU THINK MAKES LAKE COMO SO SPECIAL COMPARED TO OTHER LOCATIONS IN ITALY OR EUROPE?
I was able to find something that I could grow into, and it was within my budget. Lake Como is just a beautiful, dreamy place. There is plenty to do in the area and the dramatic landscape is surreal to wake up to.

YOU END UP BUYING A LOVELY TOWNHOUSE IN REZZONICO, A TRULY CHARACTERFUL PROPERTY THAT MANY HAD NOTICED ON THE MARKET. WHAT MADE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH IT?
It’s very spacious and has this rustic appeal. The home itself feels Italian and then the views from each floor give you something else to focus on and gaze at. When you walk onto the property and are on the terrace, you feel slightly sheltered and hidden. It was easy to fall for it.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST FEELING OF REZZONICO AND SURROUNDINGS? WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THESE VILLAGES IN PARTICULAR?
I first went into Rezzonico to get lunch the day of closing. This little village has a lot of surprising and beautiful turns. You’ll turn a corner or walk down and then get a surprising view that you didn’t expect. It’s quite lovely and everyone is friendly. The beach near the castle is also the perfect hideaway spot.
HOW WAS YOUR PROPERTY SEARCH AT LAKE COMO BEFORE IDENTIFYING THE HOUSE IN REZZONICO?
The original house that I had found online was the house in Rezzonico, so the search for property was extremely quick.
DO YOU THINK IT'S EASY TO BUY A PROPERTY AT LAKE COMO OVERALL? DID YOU FIND ANY DIFFICULTY/CHALLENGE ALONG THE WAY?
Yes, it was easy but that was mostly due to the help of Sara, Elisa and Sara. They were beyond helpful for the entire process and even after it. I wouldn’t have been able to manage without the Lakeside team. Even to this day, they are beyond helpful and patient with me.
ARE YOU PLANNING ANY RENOVATION OF YOUR HOUSE IN REZZONICO? HOW OFTEN ARE YOU PLANNING TO LIVE IN THIS HOUSE?
Yes, I made a lot of cosmetic updates to the home, which mostly included painting, all new furnishings, and new appliances and fixtures, but overall, the house was in great shape upon arrival.
I’ll be here a few months out of the year at the very least.
WHAT DO YOU FEEL LIKE RECOMMENDING TO FOREIGN CLIENTS WHO ARE LOOKING FOR THEIR SECOND HOME AT LAKE COMO?
It is definitely worth it. The area is peaceful and calm. It’s easy to feel restored and relaxed while you spend time in Lake Como.
WE THINK EVERY HOUSE HAS ITS OWN SONG. IS THERE (YET) A SONG YOU LINK TO YOUR LOVELY NEW HOME?
I’ve been overthinking this, but the first song that came to my mind was Seabird by the Alessi Brothers.
IS THERE ANY OTHER LOCATION ON LAKE COMO THAT YOU PARTICULARLY LIKE — AND IF SO, WHY?
Haven’t found many places that I don’t like. Two specific places would include Vivai Martinelli, a garden center surrounded by open fields and mountains - just amazing. My favorite restaurant is Hosteria Del Platano, but part of that experience is taking a ferry to Varenna and then walking to the restaurant.
